Anyway, enough about us - lets have a look at what else is out there in the Premiere Pro free effects universe!

JARLE'S DEADPOOL HANDHELD CAMERA PRESETS

I came across this awesome free plugin for Premiere Pro while reading Vashi Nedomanky's blog VashiVisuals.com.

Vashi gives some background into the plugin, saying that while setting up the post production workflow for the film Deadpool the lead editor requested a suitable camera shake effect that would work on static shots to add some movement.

Whilst this can be created in Premiere Pro by manually going frame by frame and setting keyframes, or by exporting to Adobe After Effects, there was no real time solution within Premiere Pro. Vashi called his good friend Jarle Leirpoll, an awesome editor who creates awesome Premiere Pro presets.

His mate Jarle created 7 custom presets for Deadpool that recreate hand held camera movements. These 7 custom presets can be applied directly onto clips and played back in real time. How Jarle accomplished this is by shooting footage with real cameras and then mapping both the postition and rotation of the handheld clips. From this mapping he created his new Premiere Pro presets.

Lots of keyframes!

That's what makes these camera shakes so good - they are organic and real. They are made from real information captured on real cameras. No algorithm or random computer generation is going to have the same natural feel as these camera shakes will.

Jarle's 7 presets are divided into two different groups, each with different functions. Three of the supplied presets can be used on footage with resolution that matches your sequence - They resize the footage to 104% allowing for buffer space around the edge of frame for the footage to move around in.
The other 4 presets are for sequences where you are editing oversized footage - for example, editing 4k in a 1080p sequence.
This allows the clips extra native resolution to act as a buffer for the movement, meaning the clips do not have to be blown up to 104%.

Awesome stuff, thanks Vashi and Jarle.

COREMELT

Next up are the guys from CoreMelt.com with this killer free Premiere Pro free effects set.

This free set of Premiere Pro effects, plugins and presets is incredibly generous with a whopping 43 free Premiere Pro effects including light effects, filmic transitions, instant montage presets and 10 text presets. Simply put, this will definitely fire up your video editing arsenal!

Casio fx 991es calculator. It is worth noting that some of their supplied free effects are for FCPX users only. Just ignore those as there are many others there for Premiere Pro. A word to Premiere Pro CC users – for these effects to show up you will need to hold the shift button upon launching to refresh the effects list.

Some more killer free effects for Adobe Premiere Pro CC come from the very generous team at Creative impatience. They bring a nice set of 6 free effects to the table for you hungry Premiere editors!

This free feathered crop effect for Premiere Pro will allow you to crop your image both inside and outside as well as add a feather to any of the cropped borders. This is an improvement over the inbuilt feather, which adds the feather parameter to every edge.

It’s simple stuff made simpler. You can also fill the crop with color or add borders to your cropped frame. This free effect works in both RGB and YUV color spaces too. Awesome!

This sweet little nugget of a freebie allows you to create a power window on the source clip. You can use both rectangle and elliptical shapes, which can be rotated and repositioned if needed. Both the inside and outside of shapes can have offset, gamma, gain and saturation adjusted globally or by RGB channel basis.

This free Premiere Pro effect may only do one thing, but does it well. This effect allows you to add or remove contrast within your image. Simple right? But, what’s so special about it is that it completes this action without affecting the true saturation.

With this simple free Premiere Pro masking effect, you can create a simple alpha mask on the source clip and composite it with the existing alpha channel by adding, subtracting and intersecting. This can be done within both rectangular and elliptical shapes which can also be rotated and repositioned.

This free effect for Premiere Pro will allow you to adjust the color temperature and tint of your footage quickly and easily. It’s a great timesaver and nifty little effect to have on hand.

With this vignette free effect you can create a vignette on the source clip in both rectangular and elliptical shapes. Vignettes can be repositioned and rotated, applied in any color and blending mode selection is available to both the outside and inside of the shape. Also you can also choose instead to fill the vignette with transparency. All in all, this is a great take on a modern classic!

The next set of Premiere effects and plugins come from Jarle over at PremierePro.net (The very same Jarle mentioned previously).

Jarle also has some other free Premiere Pro effects for download that come standalone and not part of a bigger pack.

Feel like travelling to a galaxy far, far away? If so, this is the free Premiere Pro effect for you.

Jarle has created a fun project template that will allow you to mimic the famous Star Wars opening sequence. Simply edit the text and press render. That's it, job done!

The Premiere Pro project template is 1080p50 but can easily be adjusted to whatever suits your workflow.

Jarle states that this template and music are free for you to use and do whatever you want with them.

Please note however that the Galactic Center image is not included in the free download. The full res JPG (6149 x 2902) of Hubble-Spitzer Color Mosaic of the Galactic Center is available from the Hubble Site.

If you do decide to use this template then be sure to properly credit -
Star Wars Text template from PremierePro.net by Jarle Leirpoll. Music by Lars Nårstad“. Don’t forget to alsocredit NASA and STScIfor the image.

This will work in Premiere Pro CC 2018. It is worth noting that the background image is absolutely huge, so don’t be surprised if real time playback is an issue. You can always export a lower resolution image in Photoshop to rectify this.

This one contains a set of titles for Premiere Pro. It includes straps (lower thirds), end credits, special characters and subtitles.

Love playing Tom Clancey’s Splinter Cell? Then you’re going to dig this free Premiere Pro effect. Apply this and your footage will look like it is being viewed through a set of night vision binoculars. Very cool.

Jarle has two simple, but effective, Camera POV templates for Premiere Pro CC. These are really great for simulating what it is like when viewing things through the eyepiece of a DLSR camera.

The first one is great for simulating a DSLR. The second free template is brilliant for simulating a video screen.

User manuals are included in the project files.

Please note that these templates were made within Premiere Pro CC and therefore will not work with previous versions.

The Video template includes a record indicator and viewfinder frames as well as a timecode counter. Three different frame rates are supplied - 23.976p, 25p and 29.97p

Next up is FilmImpact.net with their free transitions pack for Premiere Pro CC.

This Premiere Pro transition pack is great value and the free demo collection even more so (considering it’s FREE!).
You’ll get 4 cool transitions to add to your arsenal, as well as be able to demo their full collection. The 4 free transitions will export perfectly in your final render - no watermarks.

Vegasaur enter this epic freebie list with their free organic particle effects.

Vegasaur is giving away 5 real dust particle effects to integrate and blend with your favourite footage, or use as a cool background for titles and other text. The particle comes in 720p ProRes so the quality is ok, and you can even get away with upscaling, especially if you are blending. Speaking of blending, do try to mix up the blend modes you use this footage with - you will be surprised at some of the looks you can achieve when you step away from the standard Screen/Overlay selection.

According to their website, reviews of this Premiere Pro freebie have been overwhelmingly positive, so download and see for yourself!

As the name on the tin suggests, with this free Premiere Pro CC effect you get real 35mm film grain to overlay on your footage.

This grain comes in 720p H.264 and has a roll of 10 seconds, which when looped becomes infinite.

Simply lay on top of your footage and change the blend mode to screen, or another blend mode depending on your desired outcome.

While we’re on the topic of film grain, here’s another couple of freebies in case the vegasaur free grain pack doesn’t scratch your itch.

Gorilla Grain (note, you will have to sign up to their newsletter. No biggie though, I'm sure they hate spam as much as the next person).

Andy Mees over at Life Through the Canvas Window also has a couple of juicy Premiere Pro free effects up for grabs.

Andy’s Swish Pan

As Andy states on the website – “For all your faux in-camera whip pan needs.”

Transition Controls.

In this free transition you can choose your basic pan direction - pan left, right, up, down. You can then set emulated pan speed - whip factor. This will also control the amount of directional blur that is applied to the transition.
You can also change the transition timing.

Transition Timing.

The default timing is “Andy’s Ease Controls“.

This displays Andy's own controls which you can then customise by creating your own custom timing ramp.

Choosing “FxFactory Presets” reveals theTransition Curvepopup containing all the regular FxFactory transition timing behaviours …

The final option is “Andy’s Whip” - a custom timing ramp that really speeds through the swish pan.

This free swish dissolve will horizontally stretch and blur the outgoing clip and as it does, dissolve it through the incoming shot as it snaps back from a vertical stretch and blur. Got it? No? Don’t worry, it looks cool and will make sense once you apply it.

It also comes with individual controls for the 'in and out' stretch blurs including blur angle.

Congratulations! You've made it half way.

If you are getting value out of this list, would you mind doing me a massive favor and sharing it?

Thanks so much, it really helps!

ROCKETSTOCK

Every Premiere Pro CC editor knows it..The title tool is a little bit underwhelming! Its use-ability is clunky and a lot of features are lacking, but that's not the worst part - the worst part is the overall bad design of the custom type stye library! What were they thinking?

Here are thedefault title styles currently in thePremiere Pro title tool. One word..yuck!
